Wild discus are gorgeous.  Thanks for the link.

One difference I've noticed in wilds is that the extreme round facial profile is rarely (if ever) evident.  That seems to be a man-made show fish creation.
When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because those weirdos are your tribe.  (Sweatpants & Coffee)

Agreed, Pauline....sometimes Mom nature just isn't good enough for some folks..

I've seen some wilds with good wild faces.  They have been come more and more rare because the Amazon is not in good shape.

I think that's the question, Liz.....which face is natural, and which face is preferred by discus breeders???

I'm of the opinion that Discus should be round.  I think that the wilds we see with pointy faces are that way because they have had to work for a living.  If they had been given the conditions we give them in our aquariums many would have round faces.  With Discus, good shape is as dependent on lots of food from a young age as it is to genetics.

I could be wrong,

I like the round look myself, too.....but the natural look may just be the more pronounced mouth that comes from 'working' the river......tank bred are spoiled in that respect......yes/no ??
