I've put sponge filters in the family room tank. The air pump will go in the cabinet, under the tank. Where is the best place to put the check valve? I read that it should go six inches from the air pump but want to be sure before I cut airline.

I guess there's a 'preferred' spot for it..?...but I just put mine just below tank level...( out of sight) ;D

They're supposed to work anywhere...I put a drip loop and follow with the check valve...but it's redundant for me my pump is about the tank levels.....

others will chime in I'm sure....?

I don't think it much matters.  6" sounds fine to me.

Mine is located somewhere between 6 to 12 inches.

;D...I looked around and could not find any recommended placing of a check valve....it just shows cutting the line most anywhere between the tank and air pump....yada yada...

so anywhere is safe... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I agree Jon.  I looked before I asked and only found one actual recommendation, the six inch one.  So thanks....I put the valves on the airlines yesterday and all is well today.
