I have never bred the first pair of snots so I have no idea if these would work.  I don't see why they wouldn't.  I just like the look of them.  I bet they'd fit in well in a tank with a gravel or sand substrate.

I have heard that some plecos do not like the smoothness of slate caves.  I have some slate in with plecos, but they always use the clay caves to spawn in.   2c2

You should get some caves.  They are easy as pie to get to spawn.  In the 10 months that my fish were pretty much fending for themselves, the plecos never stopped spawning.  LOL  The adults don't harass the fry and in fact, papa pleco looks after the youngsters until they are free swimming.  The fry are very easy to feed especially in bare bottom tanks such as yours.  A bit of pleco porn for you late night enjoyment.....

I have one of those caves for a pair of albinos. One with two sides.  They work like a charm, they are constantly spawning.  I have snots in several tanks and take some to swaps once in a while.  My problem with those caves is that you can't get the male out if you want to sell him.  They lock their pectoral fins against the side of the cave and are very difficult to remove backwards.  I have made some caves out of 2x6 inch ceramic tile that I can take the back off of and push him out.  They can't lock themselves in the cave if you push them forward.

I'm not afraid of work.  I can lay down right next to it and go to sleep.
