I guess it's a matter of taste. Were cars like those supposed to be chick magnets aimed at women with bad taste?  I can see no other reason for them.

...au contraire....they appreciated a well done custom car....and fyi....some of the interiors were not only exemplary in detail, but had lots of room too....

Those cars are somehow just like the comically bad sci-fi movies of the 50's. The movies that always had a professor, with the puffs of smoke coming out of the plastic rocket ship suspended by visible wires.

Unless you were a gear head, how would you know hot rodders all over use '59 Caddy and 38/39 Ford tail lights on their hot rods?
