This is my 65 gallon blackwater tank with my Peruvian cross angels. When Jon's Sta Isabel/Rio Negro babies arrive this will be their new home.  The tank is next to the fishroom sink, thus the water marks on the glass.  :-[

Thanks. It's been a fun project. Reminds me of when I was a kid and would catch frogs, toads or snakes. I'd  try to recreate their environment in a big box.   A neighbor lady complained about the box of snakes so they had to go. Lol.

That's nice. How do you make a blackwater tank? I would like to get my hands on some wild Manacapuru.

The black water comes from the driftwood and Indian almond leaves leaching tannins.  There's also peat in bags (a ladies nylon would work too) in the filters.  Don't use any carbon as it will remove the tannins and clear up the water.

Your Peruvian crosses are beautiful! And they look right at home in your awesome looking blackwater set up. I bet you can't wait to get Jon's Sta. Isabel/Rio Negro angels in there too, huh! So exciting!

Thanks. Mine are from Angels Plus also.  Steve said this breeding turned out nicely.

Beautiful fish Pauline!  That's what I think about when I think of Angel fish.  I'm just old fashioned I guess..... not really a big fan of all these "New" Angel varieties.

Thank you Liz.

Dennis..Thanks.  I know what you mean. I have the fancy new types and these wild crosses. Some of the fancy ones are truly awesome. However these two in the blackwater tank can take my breath away.  They're why I set this tank up and why I'm so looking forward to the tank bred wilds from Jon.
