Similarly, the German Fokker Dr I tri-plane of WW1 had a 9 cylinder radial engine where the engine block spun with the prop while the crankshaft was bolted solidly to the firewall. The 920 cubic inch displacement engine supplied 110 HP at 1200 rpm and huge amounts of torque.
