I'm reading that they need very acidic water, mid to upper 6's PH....I know the guy who bred mine had a PH a little higher. I'm wondering if I used my water 7.2PH to raise them, would my fertility success be ok, but limited....or would it matter??...and I'd get better spawns, and survival rates with really acidic water??...I know some fish adapt well to higher PH water without issue....

At 7.2 you are really not very far from the upper 6's.  I think I'd give it a shot and go from there.   ;)

Oh I'm probably going to give em a whirl, but if limited success...I'll opt for using R/O, or a blend, and dropping it down...peat/leaves,etc are other option....

Fish can certainly be finicky at times...  LOL  As long as 6.8 is NOT the upper limit, you might just squeak by...  on the other hand...  Hey if they were all easy, we would quickly lose interest!  Best of luck with your project!
