Does leaving the lights on help? I have been leaving them on because in the past when the lights go off is when they usually ate their eggs. But it creates an algae problem I got a couple extra BN in there now cleaning up though

I leave the lights on when parents are on a spawn. You should grab those BN's before the next spawn..caviar is their favorite food...LOL....you can ,also, change to a lower wattage bulb during spawns.....less algae...but fry will sometimes feed on that algae too. I've had spawns that ate it a lot and others that were..so-so...
