..I'm thinking that I might do better with 10g shrimp tanks than the 5g I have...any thoughts on that?

Does anyone have bare bottom shrimp tanks? I've also been thinking of moving from 5 gallons to 10 but wondering if I should go bare bottom.

Thanks Barb When I upgrade the shrimp tanks I think I'll go bare bottom. I'm not real happy with the gravel I have in the tanks right now. huh

...I have one gravel bottom...but I think I'll add some inert white sand to some of the others...just a thin surface layer in order to increase the surface area for bacteria to occupy...

Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed a few different types of white worms in my shrimp tanks. I know that these worms are in fish tanks too but the fish usually make short work of them.

I've been looking into this and I think some of the worms may be Planaria which can be detrimental to shrimp. The main culprit is me and my overfeeding tendencies.

Are any of you familiar with these parasites? I bought some "No Planaria" but I'm hesitant to use it since my shrimp are finally in a good place and I don't want to lose any.

I've looked in some of the shrimp groups on Facebook and the reviews are mostly good. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for that video Ron. What I learned from that was that what I am really looking not Planaria but one of those other worms and seed shrimp.

I will definitely cut down the feeding and continue vacuuming the gravel. I'll also squeeze in an extra water change to see if their is any improvement.

The worm I have is a Rhabdocoela Flatworm. Supposed to be harmless to shrimp I don't like them. I think I'll get a few Endlers to get rid of them. I spoke to a friend of mine and he's putting a little group of Endlers for me that he will drop off.

Speaking of red, these are the most beautiful red shrimp I've ever seen.  He's not giving them away either.  As asked him how similar in color and size  to the ones in the picture.  Don't you think they're stunning?
