My grandmother has been suffering from deminsia for the last several years and has really lost it mentally. My grandpa has really stepped up and done a great job taking care of EVERYTHING, including her and the 10 acre farm they live on. My grandpa found out 4 weeks ago that he had lung cancer and was told to immediately go to a specialist. My mom brought him from their rural Missouri home to Wichita and they determined he had a tumor the size of a pack of cigarettes in his left lung, and a blood clot in his heart.
In the last few weeks he has been in and out of the hospital. His cancer in the first two weeks grew from the size of a pack of cigarettes to the size of an infants head! Since then we have found out that it is non-small cell rapid growing cancer and has spread to both lungs, heart, pancreas, adrenal glands, muscles, bones, skin, and inside one of his ears! He was given weeks to live as of last Monday. Since then they realized that what they thought was a clot partially blocking his aorta valve was actually cancer too and is growing so fast that yesterday they have him 3-6 days to live. Today they are releasing him from critical care to go home and basically die in the comfort of home.
My grandmother is so far gone she doesn't understand what is going on and despite being told dozens of times a day she still has to be told for the first time over and over again. I'm really worried that she will not make it without him especially if she has to relive his death over and over everyday! They have been happily married for 61 years. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

It's truly heartbreaking that your Grandparents, you and your family have to go through this.  I lost my Mom to Alzheimer's a few years ago and several family members to cancer.

If possible it would be very helpful to have hospice come in to help all of you through this difficult time. They are truly wonderful people.

My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family.
When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because those weirdos are your tribe.  (Sweatpants & Coffee)

I'm sorry to hear that, Josh. It's sad news.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Hospice is here now they just got everything setup and I'm sitting with my grandparents while my mom and aunt go over all the paperwork and everything

my sincerest thoughts and prayers to you and your family. i am so very sorry for what your grandfather and grandmother are going through. 61 years of a long happy marriage are a blessing to them both.

Well the bad news became worse news. My grandfather finally gave up last night I had been sitting with him most of the day and I left to go get meds and clothes to spend the night and within ten minutes of me leaving he passed away. I got the call he turned around and zoomed back. Thankfully everyone had a chance to say their peace and tell him that we would be ok, and it was ok for him to let go, he was struggling to breathe so bad out was painful to watch. He is in a better place now
