Water hardness and angels

...I'm noticing some interesting things as I acquiring fish from around here...

...when I got home last night with my bag of little angels, I tested the water for total hardness....It was 0ver 600 ppm!... And Kerry, who picked up the blue plats Liz sent us, keeps and breeds hers in regular tap water which is going to be high TDS too...

...I think this is interesting since all I've ever heard is that we need soft, slightly to breed and raise them...

...George G...are you on here?...can you speak to that from you experience?...

I breed them in soft water (80/20 RO-tap mix). I usually transition the babies to dechlorinated aged tap water at 1 month. My tap TDS is around 280 and they do great.

It depends on the type of minerals in the water.  High carbonate hardness is impossible to get a hatch in.  High general hardness is not.
