Good evening friends...!

We made it here to Kauai and to our room late last night (Thursday). We slept later today and got a slow start and went around to the Waimea Canyon. Started out about 11am. Got back around 6pm. Enjoyed the trip and think it would be a fun ride on your bike, Dennis. We went through several little towns that have neat little boutique shops with art. Bought 2 photos to go on our "Hawaii Walls" in the game room. I'll try to remember to post pics if I can figure how, or send them to you, Dennis, if you're willing to post for me. I got all excited when the photographer recognized my home town of Roanoke as the Star City of the South.

The pretty roosters were up at the canyon and I thought of you,Liz! I'm glad to learn you're cutting back on the beer. A lot is not healthy. If I get a 12 pack, it'll probably last me 3-4 months. I like one occasionally with a meal. Used to have more and some liquor in that amount of time, but it just doesn't do anything for me much anymore.

Barb, nice family pics! And by the way, we have lots of pollen in the desert and cities around it. Lucy has had more issues with allergies this year than I have. Usually I'm more allergy prone than she is. But still, I don't get the terrible follow up sinus infections that they used to in southwest Virginia.

Guess I better get some sleep. Take care!

Hi Barb, yep it's outside.  When you live on a wooded lot, there is always something to burn.  I can't imagine what a chore it would be to try and compost all the sticks and limbs, and brambles that need taking care of each time you do yard work.  2c2

Hi Dennis, sounds like a nice, though gloomy, day there for you.  Where is the fire you poked to get going?  Outside?  Sounds like not indoors in a fireplace?  I miss a nice wood burning fireplace, I just have a natural gas one, which is fine and clean, but I do like wood better.  Bill used to enjoy splitting the wood we would order every year, and he kept it neatly stacked under a little roof he built on the back of his work shed, to keep it dry. I remember the time the heavy thing he used to split the wood, fell onto his foot, broke his big toe even through the leather shoes he had on.  I still have that heavy thing I forgot the name of.

It is finally supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow, finally.  I will be so glad to have all the pollen washed away a bit.  Will let you know if it does.

Aloha Ron and Lucy, if you see this.  Liz how are things with you?  Willie, are you getting rain too?  Maybe even something else up your way, like cold too?  It just started pouring!!  6pm

Good afternoon all.  Slow and gloomy Friday here.

When out and poked the fire to get it going again first thing this morning.  Watched the first practice session of MotoGP and then went into Springfield to get the door hinge repair kits for the pick-up truck.

Swung by Meijer for some groceries after picking up the truck parts. I've started shopping at Meijer because the local WalMart just sucks big time. I'm sure Sam Walton is turning over in his grave due to the current state of WalMart.

Got back and put everything away just in time for the 2nd session of MotoGP. This week they are racing in the
beautiful setting of Portugal's Algarve, the 100,000 capacity Autodromo Internacional do Algarve – known more colloquially as Portimao, after the port city it sits half an hour outside – was opened on the 2nd of November, 2008.

Cleaned up the kitchen a bit and then spent the best part of the afternoon brushing up on website stuff.

Hope everyone is having a splendid day!

Good evening Liz & Barb. Glad your feeling better Liz. It is a bummer when you get a cold snap and it kills your plants.

No wind today, so I started some yard clean up. I've got some logs I want to mill into boards, but I need to clear the growth around them first.

Got quite a bit done in just a few hours work. Should be able to do a bit more in the morning, but forecast says it's going to rain in the afternoon. I guess it's that time of the year...

Sleep well, see you tomorrow!

Hi Liz, glad you feel a bit better today.  Good for you replacing a lot of beer with ginger ale.  I like it too, when I want a soft drink. I used to have just Diet Coke, was badly addicted to it, but now don't even have one a month.  Iced coffee is my new addiction now, but I think that is OK.  Coffee is supposed to be good for us, at least current thoughts are.....

You asked if I made that lavender dress, no I did not.  The one I made didn't look good on me so I actually threw it is the trash, unfinished.  A real waste of time and money.  My daughter helped me find a dress, she saw it online, I went to Belk and bought it.  I must admit it was fun to dress up, I rarely do it.

Sorry you lost those plants to freeze.  It happened here in my city too, people planted tender things too soon, they froze and now the stores get to make even more sales.  I dont plant for other couple weeks or later.  Just too risky.  Still no rain here, but Sat. is to pour all day.  Sure hope so! The pollen is awful since no rain yet to wash it away.
You all have a good evening if you read this,

I'm doing better today. Not a lot better, but still better.  I dressed and put make-up on because I got tired of looking like a bum when I go out.  I went to the beer store where I asked the lady who works there to carry out my one 15-pack of beer for me.  I used to nee ad help with 2, but it seems things have changed.  I appreciate their kindness and understanding.  I'm also glad that these days I'm drinking much much less.

My test teeth made of wax should be in soon.  I'll feel much better about being an old lady who can at least smile back at nice people.

At the Dollar store, where I bought extra-strength Tylenol which I ran out of as well as my now main beverage, ginger ale.  At check out, there was a little girl with her mother and grandmother.  She spoke to me and I answered.  I asked Mom and she said that the little girl never spoke to strangers, which made me feel good.  We had a nice little chat.  She told me by hand singles when to move my buggy up more and when to stop.  It was cute.

Now, I've had my afternoon dose of drugs and will be doing a WC soon.

Take care, and be happy friends.

I've been weary since Monday.  All I did was ship 10 rams to my thousand-dollar guy.  I'd been owing him those fish forever.  Then I went to the beer store in Ellisville, and the supermarket where I rode around on a scooter.  By the time I got home was hurting so bad I skipped WC.

We had a light freeze that night.  I discovered that it melted my tomatoes and my basil. I knew I should cover them up, but I just couldn't handle it physically.

Surely, tomorrow I'll feel better.

I've never seen Discus that look healthy in a public aquarium.  Smart on them for having so many PBs.  They can't get dark.

Barb, is the dress you are wearing the dress you made all by yourself?

Hi Willie, I got lucky the last 2 cold nights, it stayed just above freezing so I don't see any dead baby leaves out in my gardens.  I was so worried.  But my daughter who lives in central NC lost a lot of her new growth in her garden.  Liz, her favorite hen died the other day, the Polish hen with the long white head feathers on a black body.  She is getting 2 more, she loved that hen.  Willie, I know what you mean about sleeping hours, mine are often divided up too!
