Title: Foggy Hump Day
Post by: wsantia1 on October 13, 2021, 06:37:58 AM
Good morning everyone. I woke up to heavy fog here with the temp at 65 degrees and the dew point at 65 which leaves us in a very foggy state. Visibility is practically zero so I will not be driving anywhere for a while.

I'm starting to feel pretty good and have very little pain now so hopefully I can start doing more physical stuff. I have to be careful to ease into things so I don't have any setbacks.

I'll be looking at stuff in the garden as soon as the fog lifts. I still have a lot of autumn cleanup to do and I hope I can get some of it done today before a heat wave comes through the next few days.

Wishing you all a great day.

Good morning Willie. What good news to hear that the shot is working for your back!  Hope it continues for a long time.  For sure, don't overdue your work now, just go slowly.  It is kind of foggy here too, 60's and humid.  But I did turn off my AC a couple days ago.  Will have to turn it back on later this week when it gets up to the mid 80's.  It is nice to have open windows now.  My cats love it too.

I got a lot of yard work done yesterday, first time in many months I didn't get hot out there.  I moved some shrubs, spread mulch, planted Fall flowers in pots (Violas) and a few other chores.  Next is to clean out my pond filters, that is a dirty job.  Did I tell you all last week I found a snakeskin in the pond?  Hoping that won't happen anymore.  You all have a good day!

Hi All!...

Glad your back feels better Willie. I hope it lasts for a while for you. They have worked for me in the past.

Didn't get the sand out of the Tetra tank yet. Started to siphon it out but it filled up the syphon starter bulb and I quit yesterday...Going to try it differently today...take the bulb off after the siphon starts....

Not much going on today...I spent a fair part of yesterday working on preparations and meal reservations for our speaker, Dean Tweeddale who is our guest speaker coming from Seattle for our November meeting...Dean is a master breeder, and will be presenting his Fry Rearing System that he's developed over the last 30 years...That will be Sunday the 7th...we're going to have a bonus meeting on Saturday for paid club members only in which Dean wants to have an "Ask the Master Breeder" open forum...we have a committee that will house and chauffer him beginning Friday when he arrives at 10:45AM...We will be taking him to a couple of our impressive LFSs an to some of our members with nice fishrooms...We try to have at least one nationally known speaker each year and are really happy to have him come...Knowing ppl from my Seattle club has helped a lot 8) ...

Guess that's all for now folks...Keep on aquariuming...! |^|

Hi all my Muggy friends.

Barb, you did mention the snake and that you were forced to kill it.  I know that it was traumatizing for you.  Once a caught a chicken snake in the shed where some of the hens like to lay.  I'd have left it alone but it had one of my eggs 3/4 of the way down it's gullet and I got angry.  I got the egg from the snake, grabbed a spade and cut it's head off.  Over time I keep feeling worse and worse about having done that.  Surely I was getting plenty of eggs for both me and the snake.  Since then I found a shed snake skin in that shed.  If I find another chicken snake in the shed with an egg in it's mouth I'll share my bounty with a good snake that also will eat rodents like them meeses that I hate to pieces.

On the other hand, when I was out in the evening looking at the Moonflowers I saw little stubby on the woods side of the pasture looking like he was pouncing an a critter.  It was getting darker and I couldn't see clearly what he had in his mouth but although at one point I thought I saw a long tail.  Stubby knew that he had a prize and didn't let his mother or sister see it.  He carried it to the grass beside the driveway where I was able to get close enough to see.  It was a big ass rat!  I was so proud of my little guy who like to pretend that he can protect the place from critters.  But truth be told, Jack bushhogged  part of my pasture and the rat was likely injured before Stubby caught it.  I was afraid that he might bring it in the house but he never did, thank God.

Willie I'm so happy for you.  Those shots work for most people and sometimes they last longer than expected.  You're younger than the rest of us and I hate that you are suffering with back pain at your age.  Nobody who is not going through it really understands how limiting it is.  Please take it easy.  Please don't be like I was.

Ron, I wish I could hear Dean speak as well.  How did you manage to snag such an expert.  You sure do know how to lead that club.

It has been a super good day for me today. Last I checked 6 garlics are sending out green shoots.  I have spinach and carrots coming up but they were planted from seeds so still very small.  I'm disappointed in the shallots.  Just 3 putting out shoots so far.  I may have planted them too early...I got several loads of laundry out on the line, dried and brought in.  Then it was time to bag fish, take them to the LFS, and check on my pair of Discus they have.  I chatted with Hal and Tina who are taking care of the business while Ken and Twee are at a convention for LPS's.  Twee calls them her "dream team" and they are.  They take their jobs seriously.

Next off to Best Buy to pick up my countertop oven.  I'm home now, the oven is in place.  It's beautiful.  Now, I'm headed outside in the nice weather to read my users manual.

Be happy everyone.  See y'all tomorrow.
