Liz...how is the Tough Guy doing these days?...
...when I acquired the 40g some fish came with it...one was a dumbo betta...I named him Mo', as in Mo' Betta...I put him in my community tank with no problems resulting from that...his fins are so large and bulky that he hardly swims at all, just barely enough to get air from the surface...
...He has pretty coloration, so I bought a gorgeous metallic blue female crown tail and put in the tank with him...he won't even flair...!!! wfwf wfwf

I'm ashamed to say that he came to the same end as all my Bettas. He lasted longer than most but one day when I was vacuuming the bottom he was in one of Barb's tube caves. I didn't know he was in there, I got the siphon hose to close and I sucked him into the pump. I haven't bought one since. I just cannot have a Betta.
Hey, I'm sure he had good lodging and food from you. If it was his time, it was his time...
I love a Betta in a big Discus tank. My tough guy was happy there. But I have tried and failed enough times to know I can't have another.
I don't know about your guy. He has a fancy lady and doesn't want to strut his stuff for her. He must be gay.

She's a gorgeous crown tail...I think he's just too long in the tooth...or something like that! I think i'll take him to a meeting for the auction/trade table...let other's know...maybe they'll have a potion for him... :D :D :D
